The First Turn of the Season
It’s like anticipation of knowing what’s about to come out of your mom’s kitchen before Thanksgiving dinner. It is like the moment before tearing into the presents Christmas morning. It is like the excitement of waiting at the bar for a blind date and watching them walk in the door. The moment all skiers wait for all summer long is the first turn when the cold air hits their face while sinking into the fresh powder that was dreamed about for the last 7 months. Pupils dilate, heart skips a beat, and some how the smile feels like it is too big for our face. Fist pumps, hi5’s, and whoo hoos can be seen all over the mountain!
The photos are from opening weekend at Mount Hood Meadows and were just as sweet as I had dreamed about all summer. I have been skiing for 33 years here in Oregon and can feel an amazing winter on hand. If ever there was a year you wanted to learn how to ski or snowboard this is the year! Time to visit one or all of Oregon’s awesome resorts: Mount Hood Meadows, Timberline, Ski Bowl, Mount Bachelor, Mount Ashland, Willamette Pass, Hoodoo, Warner Canyon, Mount Bailey Cat Ski, Anthony Lakes, or right out you back door. Just get out and ride and save the excuses for next year. If life has pulled you in paths that didn’t allow you to ride then this is the year you come back home to the mountains. No more excuses. Sacrifice or regret……………..you choose.
