People from all over come to this small pioneer community to wander the “Stand By Me” trail, which was featured in scenes from the popular Rob Reiner movie of the same name.
Brownsville is home to the Linn County Museum, which shares the story of early settlers and Native Americans who lived in the valley in the mid 1800s. Vignettes in this facility help to tell of life on the Oregon Trail, and the relationship between the local Calapooia tribe and the new settlers.
Be sure to stop by the Living Rock Museum, whose building is made from agates, crystals, quartz, obsidian and other types of rock found in the area.
Take the family on the “Over the Rivers and Through the Woods” Scenic Byway. This 66-mile route will take you through the valley’s rich
farmlands and into the beautiful Cascade Mountains.
