The 2008 Winter Wings Festival will be held February 15-17, 2008, at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
The Klamath Basin of South Central Oregon and Northern California is home to over 350 species of birds throughout the year, including the largest concentration of wintering Bald Eagles in the lower 48 states.
There are more than 100 bird species counted every winter in the Klamath Basin. The purpose of the Winter Wings Festival is to share information, increase awareness of community resources and gain an understanding of wildlife resources, especially the birds of the Basin.
Highlights of the conference include: A keynote speech by Trish Nixon, a raptor specialist of the Peregrine Fund’s World Center for Birds of Prey; A photography workshop sponsored by Canon USA; A session entitled "Avian CSI, Fighting Wildlife Crime" that will take you on a virtual tour of the National Fish and Wildlife Forensics Lab in Ashland, Oregon; Two workshops on nature sketching by San Francisco Bay Area naturalist and author John Muir Laws.
