New Online Registration Available For Travel Oregon 101

A new online registration has been unveiled for Travel Oregon 101.

Travel Oregon 101 is a FREE two-hour resource session designed to inform members of the Tourism & Hospitality Industry how your organization or business can take advantage of the many opportunities offered by Travel Oregon.

Topics will include: advertising, consumer (visitor) marketing, customer service training, domestic media and public relations, industry relations, international markets and media, niche markets, partnerships, product development, publications, research, travel trade, visitor information, and websites for consumers and Oregon's tourism industry.

Seating is limited to 25 registrants but the session is offered on a monthly basis (same material presented each time) if you are unable to attend this go around.

The Monday, May 19 Travel Oregon 101 session is currently full but feel free to register for the June 9 session in Gold Beach or the July 21 session in Salem.

Portland Ranked #1 Green City By SustainLane.com

SustainLane.com recently named Portland the "Greenest U.S. City" and called it a "Role Model for the Nation".

Portland ranked highest in the categories of: City Innovation, Energy/Climate Change Policy, Green Economy, and Knowledge Base.

The article also speaks to Portland's bike-friendly attitude...

Portland is a great place if you'd rather ride your bike. Some 10,000 Portlanders, or 2.8 percent, commute on bike, taking advantage of more than 700 miles of bicycle paths around the city.

Oregonian Article Focuses On The "State Of Cycling"

Ecotourism & Sustainable Tourism Conference To Be Held In October

The 2008 Ecotourism & Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC) will be held October 27-29 in Vancouver, Canada.

This is the third conference by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) focusing on sustainability in travel and tourism in North America.

TIES is holding the ESTC yearly to expand the network of industry practitioners and experts and to encourage greater awareness and implementation of the principles ecotourism and sustainability practices in the U.S. and Canada.

Oregon Heritage Conference To Be Held May 4-6 In Eugene

The 2008 Oregon Heritage Conference will be held May 4-6 in Eugene at the Valley River Inn.

The conference theme is "Go the Distance! Sustain Oregon Heritage!" and will build upon Eugene's unique heritage of Track Town USA. Other points of emphasis include addressing the major issues of financial, organizational, environmental, collections, preservation and heritage sustainability.

More than 25 sessions and workshops are scheduled, as well as tours, the Oregon Heritage Excellence Awards banquet, and the State of Oregon Heritage Session.
