The keys to presenting successful events will be offered during a Mt. Hood Community College winter term class titled "Special Event and Attraction Management"(HT 233) . The elective class is a part of the two-year Hospitality and Tourism program for students at MHCC. Adults not enrolled at MHCC but with an interest in event planning or who are considering a career change may audit this class for personal or professional growth.
Key topics relating to the successful management of special events and visitor attractions include: industry trends, planning fundamentals, essential organizational tools, marketing, sponsorships, risk management, leadership techniques and long-term event development.
The class will be held on Tuesday nights beginning Jan. 8, from 6-8:50 p.m. at Parkrose High School in Portland.
