The third annual TIA Travel Leadership Summit will be held September 24-25, 2008 in Washington, D.C.
The summit brings hundreds of travel industry leaders to Washington to raise travel and tourism's profile with lawmakers, and highlight its enormous contributions to the U.S. economy and its value to public diplomacy.
Travel Oregon led a delegation of travel and tourism leaders to the 2007 Travel Leadership Summit. In addition to discussing issues of national importance to the tourism industry, they met with Oregon members of Congress with a focus on Oregon specific issues including - among others - the following: the need for funding for a Welcome Center at the southern Oregon border, reauthorized funding of the Scenic Byways program, the Willamette River United Act, and the Mt. Hood Wilderness Act of 2007.
