Live Wire! is a smart, irreverent, and unique voice in Oregon Public Radio. Travel Oregon has been a sponsor of the program for approximately three years. It has been Travel Oregon's hope that Live Wire! will grow beyond the borders of Oregon Public Broadcasting and get picked up by other Public Radio stations across the U.S.
We're pleased to announce that on New Year's Eve (9 p.m. to 11 p.m.), Public Radio listeners in New York have the chance to hear Live Wire’s! variety show for the first time. The two-hour Wordstock special will be broadcast on WNYC AM 820 - the nation’s largest Public Radio station.
While it is a one-time airing, this is potentially a first step in gaining the momentum needed to push this program to the national distribution that it deserves.
To help support the show, Travel Oregon sent out a special e-mail newsletter inviting our New York subscribers to tune in. The Portland Oregon Visitors Association and Live Wire! also sent out similar e-mails asking their subscribers to listen or tell their New York friends and family to check it out.
