What’s Going on in Oregon This December

It’s December and we’re in a festive mood here in Oregon. Holiday lights are twinkling, Christmas trees are up, and Oregon Ballet Theatre is set to dance “The Nutcracker” again.

We hope you’ll join us to celebrate this holiday season of sensible shopping deals, winter wonderland displays, snowy slopes and all kinds of seasonal fun.

This month, our recipe stars the delicious pear, and we have a list of great ways to ring in the holidays, from Christmas Ships in Portland to Holiday Lights at the Oregon Garden.

See you in Oregon, where we’re doing a snow dance!

Instead of Happy Holidays let’s be more specific. Do you meant Labor Day, Presidents Day, Fourth of July or Christmas or something else?

Robert – thanks for your comment! By holidays, we were referring to the multitude of hoildays being celebrated this December; Christmas, Hanukkah, Kawanza & Eid.

Cheers!

I’d like to see more of the mountains, and less of Portland. Granted, Portland’s our largest center of population, but it’s not the state.
I’d like to see more horse related information-yes I am a horseman.
On the “favorite outdoor activity” list I’d appreciate “horseback riding” or “horseback trail riding” included.
The recent article on Christmas trees mentioned only one area of the state, and certainly could’ve been much more comprehensive. We have a large agricultural income based on our Christmas tree harvest each year.
Thanks, SeeYa,
Curtis

Curtis and K: Thanks so much for your comments and ideas! We really appreciate feedback from our readers.

With Oregon gearing up to celebrate our 150th Birthday in February, you will definitely see more stories about the people, places and culture of the state.

We’ll also do our best to bring you even more stories from the far-flung corners of the state.

Thanks again for reading!
