What's Going On In Oregon This August?

July 31, 2007

Yikes! Summer’s not even over and we’re already talking about a back to school shopping spree giveaway. Please don’t fret! It’s still sunny and warm and gorgeous here, and we’ve got a few fantastic ideas to help you plan at least one more spontaneous summer getaway to Oregon. Take the family on an Oregon Coast road trip, or visit Salem's very own Oregon State Fair.

Also this month, we’ve got a delicious grilled steak tip salad recipe that hails from RimRock Inn Restaurant, whose outdoor deck overlooks the spectacular 2,000-foot-deep Joseph Canyon in northeast Oregon.

Hope to see you in Oregon, where the shopping is lovely, and always tax-free…

Just returned from a week (end of July, beginning of Aug.) in OR. Gorgeous trip and great weather. Started in Portland and really enjoyed ride south on I-5 to Ashland, where we stayed at a great B&B and enjoyed two shows and a backstage tour as well as very good restaurants. Followed with a trip to Crater Lake--awesome! 70 mile drive from there to Roseburg along the Umpqua River took 5 hours, due to constant interruptions to stop to take short hikes to several beautiful waterfalls.

Got a lot of very good info from your website. Thanks.

Keith Garrison:

I visited Oregon for the first time last year in September. What a great state! I hope to get back soon, and love your Travel Oregon e-mails and magazines.

Andrea Neault:

I love Oregon! We just visited Crater Lake, what a jewel. Got a good workout hiking down to the lakeshore.
We also loved shopping at the Woodside outlets.

After receiving your magazine DISCOVER OREGON SCENIC BYWAYS & TOUR ROUTES, I was disappointed to see that the Painted hills loop was no longer mentioned in the "Journey Through Time Scenic Byway" pages. We had received a "Byway" brochure years ago, which had the Painted Hills as part of the "Journey Through Time." I was sad to see that others would not have that included on their trip.

However, I was very excited to see that I could search for it on your web site and I retrieved those directions and I will print them out to add to my most recent driving guide.

Dennis Petersen:

I am from Denmark and me and my wife are going to Oregon/Portland in the beginning of september to visit some friends. We have read a lot about Oregon and are really looking forward to our visit. It all looks great
