Oregon's Seafood & Wine Festival- Oyster Shooters, Bisque, and Much More!

February 8, 2007

As you read our blog or peruse through our website, you will probably notice that there’s always something fun and exciting to do in Oregon. And very often, there's something delicious to taste! Our very own Amy visited the Oregon Seafood & Wine Festival this past weekend- read on to hear more about her culinary adventure.

Sampling Seafood and Wine...what could be better? Benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society at the same time!

The Oregon Seafood & Wine Festival was held at the Oregon Convention center February 2nd and 3rd. The festival offered 20 Seafood Restaurants, 65 wineries, live Oregon Jazz, and dozens of other exhibitors.

All proceeds from the festival will go towards benefiting the Oregon Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and all of the funds raised will stay in Oregon and the Southwest Washington Area.

Upon entering the exhibition hall, the smell of fresh seafood drifted through the air as a massive inflatable crab towered above. Wandering through the rows of exhibitors sampling delicious Oregon Pinots and fresh crab, caught right in the middle of Dungeness crab season, I couldn’t help but feel lucky to live in Oregon. Oyster shooters were first on the list. If you’ve never tried an oyster shooter, you’re in for a treat. There’s nothing better than slamming back a shot glass filled with an oyster and cocktail sauce. The folks at The Seafood Center were kind enough to take a polaroid for first timers. Next, I took in a cooking demonstration that was not only entertaining, but inspirational as well, as I am looking forward to trying out new recipes. The hardest part of the evening was deciding what to have for dinner. Finally, after much deliberation I decided on crab bisque from Bay Ocean Seafood. The bisque was delicious! I was pleased with my choice paired with a pinot noir from Pheasant Valley Winery. What made my meal even more enjoyable was the music of the Medler Sextet. This was some great jazz that really added to the ambiance.

The Oregon Seafood and Wine Festival had lots to offer and was a terrific way to spend a Friday evening. I am looking forward to next year!
